This proposal involves expanding the mandate of the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO). The PBO would:

• produce the five-yearly intergenerational report from 2020
• prepare independent macroeconomic forecasts, from the 2021-22 Budget, that would underpin the estimates of revenue and expenditure published in the Government's economic and fiscal updates
• join the Joint Economic Forecasting Group (JEFG).
