This proposal has 5 components which would take effect from 1 July 2022.

Component 1: Ensure the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) works for disabled people.

a. Invest $300 million over 4 years to enhance the compliance and investigative capacity of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

b. Redirect the $160 million committed to corporations to run independent assessments to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

This proposal is related to the 2021-22 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook measure Medical Workforce which would eliminate all or part of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) debt for eligible healthcare workers if they reside in and practice in rural, regional, or remote Australia.

The proposal would provide funding over 4 years from 2022-23 to improve rural health care in Far North Queensland. It includes 2 components and would end on 30 June 2026.

Component 1 would create an additional 20 Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) per year from 2023 for 3 years for medicine at James Cook University.

Component 2 would provide support for the education, training and placement of doctors in hospitals in Far North Queensland through the North Queensland Primary Health Network with the following funding profile.
